Ben Gerritsen appointed as First Gas
General Manager Commercial and Regulation
New Zealand gas network owner First Gas Ltd has appointed Ben Gerritsen as its General Manager Commercial and Regulation.
Since 2010, Mr. Gerritsen has been the Managing Director of Castalia Strategic Advisors advising major New Zealand corporate clients including significant utility companies on commercial and regulatory strategy, economics and finance.
A Fulbright Scholar, Mr. Gerritsen gained a Masters’ in Public Policy from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, as well as a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Management Studies from Waikato University.
“Mr. Gerritsen brings an in-depth knowledge of New Zealand regulatory practices to First Gas”, says the company’s CEO, Paul Goodeve.
“Mr. Gerritsen is well-placed to deepen our relationships with our customers, industry partners and stakeholders, building on his work within the industry to converge the gas transmission operating codes” says Mr. Goodeve. “We aim to develop closer relationships with gas shippers and major gas users, and promote the use of gas in New Zealand, and Mr. Gerritsen will be at the forefront of our efforts to achieve those outcomes.”
“Mr. Gerritsen also brings a strong understanding of regulatory settings under Part 4 of the Commerce Act, and will ensure that our operations meet all of our obligations under existing codes and regulations.”
