The Transmission network

Firstgas owns and operates New Zealand's network of high-pressure gas transmission pipelines stretching more than 2,500km.

These pipelines transport large volumes of gas to gas-fired power stations, other energy retailers' distribution networks, petrochemical plants, hospitals, steel makers and other major industry. New Zealand’s transmission networks include the Maui and Kapuni gas pipelines.

The Maui Pipeline is New Zealand’s largest high pressure transmission pipeline running from the Oaonui Production Station south of New Plymouth to the Huntly Power Station south of Auckland and is responsible for transporting over 80% of all natural gas produced in New Zealand.

The Distribution network

Firstgas owns and operates a system of medium and low pressure gas distribution networks in parts of the North Island.
