Terms and Conditions for a First Gas Limited Incentive to upgrade your gas water heating system (Promotion).
- Information on how to enter the Promotion forms part of the conditions of entry. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
- First Gas Limited, 42 Connett Road West, Bell Block, New Plymouth 4373 (trading as First Gas) is the promoter of the Incentive (the Promoter).
- “Customer”, “Applicant” and “You” are used interchangeably in these Terms and Conditions.
- “Incentive” means a $1,000 (including GST) contribution from the Promoter applied to the upgrade to a new appliance.
- The Promotion is limited to the first 20 eligible Applicants who satisfy these Terms and Conditions and whose claim is approved by the Promoter. Once 20 Incentives have been approved, no further Incentives will be available, even if the Promotion Period has not ended.
- Applicants must be New Zealand residents who are over the age of 18.
- The Promoter, its employees and their immediate families, participating agents and their associated agencies are ineligible to enter. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries.
- How to be Eligible for the Incentive:
- To qualify for the Incentive the Applicant must:
- be connected to the Promoter’s distribution network and own the property (Existing Connection). Customers and Gas fitters can check the eligibility by entering the customers address on our website: https://firstgas.co.nz/get-connected/check-availability. If the address is within the Firstgas network area, the customer may qualify and should speak with their gas fitter about the next steps;
- replace an existing and operational water heating appliance at the property (Replaced Appliance) with a new Rinnai EF26 appliance (Rinnai Appliance); and
- ensure that the Replaced Appliance:
- has been installed at the property for a minimum of 10 years; or
- is, in the reasonable opinion of the Promoter or the installing gas fitter, approaching the end of its useful life or is materially inefficient compared to current appliances.
- The Promoter may require evidence to verify eligibility, including:
- approximate age or model of the existing appliance; and
- photographs of the existing appliance prior to replacement.
- The installation of the Rinnai Appliance must be done between 8 June 2026 and 31 August 2026.
- The Incentive will only be paid to an Applicant whose installation/connection meets the following criteria:
(a) any gas works are completed by a licensed gas fitter;
(b) a Certificate of Compliance for the new appliance is provided to the Promoter; and
(c) the Applicant complies with any reasonable request from the Promoter for information to verify compliance with this clause 12. - We recommend contacting the Firstgas team at Connections@firstgas.co.nz to confirm your eligibility.
- The Promoter may request an ICP from You to validate your claim for the Incentive. The ICP number will be listed on your gas bill.
- A Customer may claim only one (1) Incentive, regardless of the number of properties or metered properties they own. Multiple claims by the same Customer in relation to different properties or ICPs are not permitted. For the avoidance of doubt, where multiple dwellings are served by a single meter, this is treated as a single metered property.
- The Promotion runs from 8 June 2026 to 31 August 2026 (Promotion Period) and the Rinnai EF26 installation (Installation Date) must be completed by the end of the Promotion Period. A one-month Grace Period from 31 August 2026 to 30 September 2026 will follow the Promotion Period, to allow an Applicant time to submit the information required to make their claim for the Incentive (Grace Period). If the Applicant’s claim is received after the end of the Grace Period they will be ineligible for the Incentive.
- The Installation Date is the date on the gas-fitting Certificate of Compliance. The Promoter reserves the right to investigate the Installation Date if it sees fit. A Customer is not eligible for the Incentive for Incentive for future connections.
- An Incentive will not be approved if the Promoter deems the Applicant has acted fraudulently in any way.
- The Incentive is limited strictly to the amount specified in clause 4 and is a one-off contribution only. Except to the extent expressly stated in clause 4, the Promoter:
- does not fund, reimburse or contribute to any other costs; and
- is not liable for any additional costs, expenses or losses of any kind arising in connection with the Incentive.
- The Applicant is solely responsible for all costs associated with the purchase, installation, upgrade, operation and use of the appliance, including (without limitation) any costs exceeding the Incentive amount and any ancillary, compliance, connection, consent, labour or materials costs.
- The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of applications. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this Promotion.
- To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any loss, damage or personal injury arising in connection with participation in this Promotion or the use of any Incentive.
- The Promoter collects applicants’ personal information in order to conduct the Promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the applicant may not participate in the Promotion. Acceptance of the Incentive is deemed consent for the Promoter to use the applicant’s details and photographs of the applicant for promotional and media purposes without any further reference, or other compensation to the Applicant. - This Promotion is subject to the laws of New Zealand. Both the Promoter and you, and any party which uses or takes the benefit of the Incentive, accept the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
