Thinking about upgrading your gas appliance? 

Upgrade or install a new gas appliance, and you could qualify for a $500 incentive.

Terms and Conditions for a First Gas Limited Incentive to upgrade your gas appliance (“Promotion”).

  1. Information on how to enter the Promotion forms part of the conditions of entry. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

  2. First Gas Limited, 42 Connett Road West, Bell Block, New Plymouth 4373 (trading as First Gas) is the promoter of the Incentive (the Promoter).

  3. “Customer”, “Applicant” and “You” is used interchangeably in these Terms and Conditions.

  4. “Incentive” used in these terms and conditions means a $500 (including GST) Prezzy Card.

  5. Applicants must be New Zealand residents who are over the age of 18.    

  6. How to Apply: To apply, an eligible Applicant must fill out all fields in the Promotion application form on the First Gas website. Application into the Promotion is automatic upon submission of a correct and fully completed online form.

  7. The Promoter, its employees and their immediate families, participating agents and their associated agencies are ineligible to enter. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries.

  8. How to be Eligible for the Incentive:

  9. You must own the property that has an existing connection to the Promoter’s gas distribution network in Taupo and have installed an additional new gas appliance or replace an existing water heating or space heating appliance with a new “same-use” appliance between 26 May 2025 to 29 August 2025. Re-connecting (re-installing) pre-existing appliances at the same address does not qualify for the Incentive (e.g. re-connection after property vacancy or renovations).  We recommend reaching out to the Firstgas team at Connections@firstgas.co.nz to confirm your eligibility.

  10. The Promoter may request an ICP from You to validate your claim for the Incentive. The gas meter number is usually listed on the Customer gas bill, otherwise, it can be found on the front of the gas meter itself.

  11. A Customer may claim the Incentive for multiple properties they own, provided all of the Terms and Conditions are met and they have the legitimate authority to do so.  

  12. If there are several dwellings on a property served by a single meter, this is classed as a single metered property. Therefore, a Customer can only claim one Incentive for each metered property.

  13. A Customer can only claim one new installation/connection per property they own.

  14. The Incentive will only be paid to an Applicant whose installation/connection meets the following criteria:
    (a)    any gas works are completed by a licensed gas-fitter;
    (b)    a Certificate of Compliance from the gas-fitter for the new appliance is provided to the Promoter; and 
    (c)    any additional information or documentation requested to support the Applicant’s claim is provided to the Promoter.

  15. The Promotion runs from 26 May 2025 to 29 August 2025 (Promotion Period) and the appliance installation (Installation Date) must be completed by the end of the Promotion Period.  A one-month Grace Period from 30 August 2025 to 30 September 2025 will follow the Promotion Period, to allow an Applicant time to submit the information required to make their claim for the Incentive (Grace Period). If the Applicant’s claim is received after the end of the Grace Period they will be ineligible for the Incentive.

  16. The Installation Date is the date on the gas-fitting Certificate of Compliance. The Promoter reserves the right to investigate the Installation Date if it sees fit. A Customer is not eligible for the Incentive for bayonet points or gas points for future connections.

  17. An Incentive will not be approved if the Promoter deems the Applicant has acted fraudulently in any way.  

  18. The Applicant is responsible for paying all additional costs associated with the Incentive that are not specifically included (as stated in clause 4). 

  19. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in Incentive value. 

  20. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Incentive in whole (or any of its components), with a substitute Incentive of equal or greater value.

  21. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of applications. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this Promotion.

  22. Neither the Promoter nor any other person or party associated with this Promotion shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with either participation in this Promotion or with any  offered.

  23. The Promoter collects applicants’ personal information in order to conduct the Promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the applicant may not participate in the Promotion. Acceptance of the Incentive is deemed consent for the Promoter to use the applicant’s details and photographs of the applicant for promotional and media purposes without any further reference, or other compensation to the applicant.   24. This Promotion is subject to the laws of New Zealand.  Both the Promoter and you, and any party which uses or takes the benefit of the Incentive, accept the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
