Through Clarus’s community partnership fund, Firstgas proudly supports initiatives that deliver practical and meaningful impact in the communities where we operate. One such initiative is the Taranaki Special Children’s Extravaganza, an annual event that offers a welcome day out for around 700 children aged 12 and under, along with their families.

Children are nominated by local schools, charities, and community organisations because they are living with illness, disability, or have experienced difficult personal circumstances, including abuse or financial hardship. The event provides an opportunity for families to enjoy a day away from the pressures they face. It’s a day filled with rides, entertainment, food and activities designed to be inclusive and accessible.
At the end of the day, each child receives three brand-new, age-appropriate toys to take home, adding to a memorable and positive experience for all involved.

“Being able to run this day is a real highlight and we simply would not be able to have as many local nominated families and children attend our day without the generous support from community-minded businesses like Firstgas and the Clarus Community Fund,” said Anthony Kerr, Event Manager.
Firstgas is proud to be part of this effort to support families in our region, and to help create a day that many look forward to each year. Initiatives like this reflect the value of strong partnerships between businesses and local communities, working together to make a difference.
