Rinnai Infinity EF26
For many homeowners, a gas continuous flow water heater is something they don't think about until it stops working. By that stage, they're often faced with an unexpected replacement cost and need to make a quick decision.
That's why Firstgas and Rinnai have teamed up on a limited winter promotion designed to make upgrading an older gas hot water system more affordable while giving gasfitters another reason to start the conversation with customers.
A good time to discuss an upgrade
Many gas water heaters installed more than a decade ago are still operating reliably, but advances in appliance technology mean newer systems can offer improved efficiency and performance.
The Rinnai EF26 continuous flow water heater uses high-efficiency condensing technology and around 11% less energy than a standard Rinnai INFINITY A26. It also delivers continuous flow hot water, meaning homeowners won't run out of hot water during periods of high demand.
For gasfitters already replacing ageing or end-of-life appliances, it presents an opportunity to discuss the benefits of upgrading to a premium, high-efficiency system.

Supporting homeowners this winter
To help reduce upfront costs, Firstgas is contributing up to $1,000 towards the installation of eligible Rinnai EF26 systems for a limited number of customers connected to the Firstgas network.
The offer is available to the first 20 eligible installations completed between 15 June and 31 August 2026 at residential properties on the Firstgas network in the North Island. Homes must already have an existing gas connection, with one subsidy available per property.
How gasfitters can participate
The process is straightforward. Before commencing work, installers simply confirm the customer's address is eligible and check that promotional allocations are still available. Once the EF26 has been installed, the customer is invoiced with the $1,000 rebate deducted, with reimbursement then claimed through Rinnai.
With only a limited number of subsidies available, Firstgas encourages gasfitters to check eligibility before discussing the offer with customers.
