How to identify a Transmission Pipeline

Never assume you know exactly where the pipeline is located, always contact us first.

Look out for:

  • Signs on kerbs, streetlights and power poles in urban areas
  • Danger signs and white painted posts on fence in rural areas
  • White triangular warnings signs at major river and harbour crossings
  • Marker tape may be in the trench line above the pipe

Typically, high-pressure transmission pipelines are buried at a minimum depth of 900mm. However, the actual depth may vary due to changes in the ground surface since their construction which can result in an increase or decrease in depth.
