Two young BMX riders from New Plymouth are heading to the world stage, to represent New Zealand this year at the 2026 UCI BMX World Championships in Brisbane from the 17-25 July.

Firstgas, part of Clarus, is proud to support brothers Luca, 11, and Finn, 9 who are competing internationally.

The brothers, who ride for the New Plymouth Sharks BMX Club, earned their places in the New Zealand team through strong performances at national competitions and years of dedication to the sport. Luca and Finn’s younger brother, Arlo is not far behind and has his eyes firmly set on competing at the World Champs too.

Jeremy Hudson, proud Dad of Luca and Finn, says the boys’ success reflects years of commitment to the sport and a growing pipeline of young talent coming through the Taranaki BMX community.

“Luca has established himself as a consistent national competitor, achieving multiple top-eight finishes across major events including the New Zealand Championships, Oceania Championships, and national series competitions,” said Jeremy.

“Finn, who has been riding since the age of five, has also delivered strong results at a national level, including a top-five finish at the 2026 New Zealand Championships. He brings energy, pride, and enthusiasm to his racing, and continues to build confidence and experience with each season,” added Jeremy.

As members of the volunteer-run New Plymouth Sharks BMX Club, Luca and Finn are part of a club that encourages young people to develop confidence, resilience and sportsmanship, while inspiring the next generation of riders.

Firstgas is proud to support local people and organisations through the Clarus Community Fund and wishes Luca and Finn every success as they represent New Zealand on the international stage.
