Water Heating

Natural gas is an excellent choice for heating water. You can choose either the increasingly popular continuous flow water heaters that heat the water as you use it, or the more traditional hot water cylinder.

Continuous flow water heaters are small and easy to install. They can go on an outside wall freeing up storage space inside.

They continuously heat the water while the hot tap is turned on – so you never run out of hot water and they only heat the water being used so no energy is wasted keeping stored water hot.

Start heating as soon as the tap is turned on and you can deliver water to the point of use at your favourite temperature – so you are always on control.

The heaters are highly efficient – so the amount of energy required is minimised, making it less costly.

Gas storage water heaters are also extremely efficient. They can fit into a cupboard (much the same as an electric ones) or can be sited outside.

They have large heating elements (burners) and reheat stored water faster – meaning that you can have more showers during a period of time.

They come in a variety of sizes to suit requirement and may not require electricity so will operate even when power is off. They are flexible and can operate on mains pressure, unequal pressure or low pressure.

An independent consulting body has completed a report that indicates that heating water using a continuous flow gas water heater is a great choice. To see a summary of the report please click https://gasindustry.co.nz/dmsdocument/5260 (hyperlink)

Building a new home

If you are planning your new home it is the perfect time to consider using natural gas. You are about to choose the major energy using appliances you will use for heating your water, keeping your new home warm and healthy, preparing your meals and enhancing your outdoor entertainment area.

So for the greatest convenience and comfort available then just consider the following:

By installing a continuous flow water heater on natural gas you are ensuring that you will never run out of hot water. Natural gas is piped directly to your house and the water heater continuously heats the water you are using.

Because gas water heaters can be installed outside you can have additional space that could be used for an extended pantry, a storage cupboard or a specialist locked area for precious belongings.

Imagine being warm and cosy in front of a live flame but not having to deal with all of the mess that comes with using solid fuel – such as stoking, storing, stacking and cleaning ashes.

While you are building it is easy to incorporate the ducting or water piping for a central heating system that will ensure your whole home is beautifully warm providing a healthy family environment.

Incorporating a natural gas connection during the building process and site development will cause little or no disruption and ths connection cost could be minimal.

Make sure that your builder is aware of your choice for gas so that a connection can be arranged early in the building process.
